Master program
The master’s degree in Life and Medical Sciences from the University of Bonn is offered by the Life and Medical Science (LIMES) Institute, a center for excellence in both scientific research and higher education in life sciences and biomedicine. The LIMES master program complements the bachelor program “Molekulare Biomedizin” at the University of Bonn.
This master’s degree is taught in English and is designed to take three semesters. Great emphasis and time is devoted to gaining hands-on laboratory experience. Therefore, an intensive 8-week technique course and three two-month lab rotations are incorporated in the program, in addition to the research-based master’s thesis. This integration and exposure into university labs enables students to develop their skills and knowledge across the wide range of research conducted in LIMES.
Lectures provide the theoretical groundwork for the master’s program and are organized according to the four primary research fields of the Institute:
- Membrane Biology and Biochemistry
- Development, Genetics and Molecular Physiology
- Molecular Cell and Immune Biology
- Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry
The blocks are 6-10 weeks long, starting in October and continuing into August. Seminars, electives and extracurricular activities offered by the University of Bonn complete the program.
Additionally, the knowledge and skills gained in the master program “Life and Medical Sciences” can be further developed through doctoral studies at the LIMES graduate school.
Application deadline for the LIMES Master Program is the 31st of March.
